Local Bounty teams up with local producers and the Saskatoon Chefs' Association to create the real taste of Saskatchewan at the Saskatoon Farmers' Market. Grounds admission is free. You will be able to purchase tickets for food creations by  local chefs for a culinary journey through Saskatchewan. 4-7 pm...come join us.

Local Bounty began as a forum for connecting local chefs who want to serve Saskatchewan food with the farmers, gardeners, fishers, orchardists, etc., who produce it. Chef Anthony McCarthy (right) is 2009's artisan taking Saskatchewan produce and melding it into an experience for our taste buds.

Wade Sirois visited from Calgary to help make 2009 a success. Notes from his presentation can be found here.

The first two events were held at the Delta Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon  and the Conexus Arts Centre in Regina. More than 100 producers and 20 chefs turned out.

This year’s events was even better. Farmers came away with a better understanding of the chef’s requirements (and maybe even some orders) and chefs strengthened their connection to the bounty of this land.

Farmers, consider the potential if you knew months in advance what’s going to be on the menu. Chefs, take the guess work out of tracking down ingredients they want to serve.

Farmers can order and plant seed, raise animals or process a product assured of a sale, and chefs can plan their menus with confidence the ingredients will arrive in their kitchens in quantity and on time. Who knows, it may be the start of a beautiful relationship!
