Local Bounty Saskatchewan was conceived by Tourism Saskatchewan as a means of fostering a rural tourism industry based around locally-produced food.

The concept is to strengthen rural food production so that farm families are prosperous and see the potential in taking the next step — a B & B, farm events, value-added products, country markets, community fairs, etc., that bring city folk and tourists into the country for an authentic, down-home experience.

By engaging with the chefs, farmers will develop significant and profitable markets, while the chefs will proudly advertize their suppliers on their menus and by word of mouth. As for the rest of us, if we enjoy the restaurant experience, we may drive out to the country to taste the rural life ourselves!

Mission

Local Bounty seeks to forge relationships among farmers, chefs and the general public in order to strengthen local food economies in Saskatchewan. This will be achieved through advocacy, promotion and special events focusing on great local food.

Vision

Saskatchewan is well known for its agricultural production and for its creative cuisine based on the local bounty. The rural economy is vibrant with well-developed, sustainable and eco-friendly local food systems. Farmers and their communities are self-sufficient, and more consumers are demanding and eating healthy local foods.
